How to Buy NFTs in Auctions

Posted on 2024-08-06 Updated on 2024-08-07

There are two options available for you to buy NFTs on EdaFace NFT Marketplace:

(a). Fixed Price Purchase

(b). Auction Purchase

An auction is the process in which various buyers (bidders) make bid offers to buy an NFT with the highest bid offer becoming the winner to buy the NFT.

There are two kinds of auctions on EdaFace NFT Marketplace by which you can purchase NFT in the arena:

(i). Timed Auction

This means buyers place different bid price offers (“Bid Offers” for short) within a specified time frame.

Note the following three things about a Bid Offer:

• a Bid Offer is valid at or above the Minimum Bid price set by the NFT seller

• a Bid Offer is valid within a specified time frame preset by the NFT seller.

• The highest Bid Offer after the auction ends is the winning bid.

For more information, click: “Learn more about how Timed Auctions work.”

(ii). Unlimited Auction

This is an auction that has no Minimum Bid and no preset Specified Duration for the auction to take place.

Buyers will continue to place bid offers until the time the Seller decides to end the auction. The seller of the NFT determines the Minimum Bid and can end the auction at any time.

To participate in an auction, you will need to take the following simple steps:

Step 1: Open the EdaFace Account

Register and obtain an account with EdaFace by clicking on nft.edaface.com. This is free and requires only your username, email, and a secure password to protect your account.

Step 2: Fund Your Wallet

Login to your non-custodial wallet and fund it to pay gas fees. You may fund your wallet with Ethereum if you plan to use the Ethereum chain. On the other hand, if you plan to use BNB Smart Chain, fund your wallet with BNB.

If you don’t know how to fund your wallet, see the Lessons in Grade 6 of the Primary School of Cryptocurrencies.

Step 3: Connect Your Wallet

Click on “Connect Wallet” on EdaFace NFT Marketplace and select your wallet. If your wallet is unlocked (open), it will be connected.

Step 4: Locate the NFT for Purchase

Find an NFT you’d like to buy in an auction on any of the three arenas of EdaFace NFT Marketplace.

Step 5: Review the NFT

Review the collected information about the NFT as stated in Lecture 12.1.0 above.

In addition, the information to review should include current offers to make sure you can place a bid. OpenSea requires that bids must be at least 5 percent higher than the previous bid.

Step 6: Place Bid Offer

If you are satisfied with the reviewed information, click the “Place Bid” button on the NFT page.

Step 7: Review Purchasing Details

You may be prompted by OpenSea to review a few details about your purchase before finalization.

This is to ensure that you know exactly what you’re buying and also to prevent you from the scams of buying an unauthentic version of the NFT.

Step 8: Select the Currency

Select the currency you'd like to place a bid on. Unlike other marketplaces, there are no once-off fees if you bid in a currency you’ve never made a purchase with before on EdaFace NFT Marketplace.

Step 9: Monitor Bid Offers

Enter the amount of your offer. Pay attention to the expiration date. The expiration date allows you to pull your offer at that time, giving the seller a timeframe to decide on accepting an offer on non-competitive NFT auctions.

You can see a list of all offers made by returning to “My Items” in your EdaFace account.

After you have placed an offer, what you do is wait for the seller to accept your offer.

Of course, if you’re making an offer for an NFT you really want and there are a lot of bids, you’ll want to monitor the bids and keep raising your offer. Like in traditional auctions, the highest bidder is the winner.

Step 10: Proceed to Checkout

If you are the eventual winner, you can proceed to make the payment for the NFT.

You’ll be asked to agree to EdaFace terms of service, then you’re free to click the “Checkout” button to finalize your purchase.

Step 11: Confirm Purchase

You will now be directed to your Metamask wallet where you will see the final cost, which includes the blockchain gas fee.

Click “Confirm” and the amount will be deducted from your wallet to pay for the NFT.

Congrats, you have bought your NFT at auction.

To see the NFT you have bought in your wallet, return to your EdaFace account and click on “My Items.” There might be a slight delay until it shows up due to processing time, and you might need to refresh the page.
